Effective October 18, 2026. What TripChecker reads, what stays on your phone, and the few things that leave it.

Who we are

TripChecker is an app for rideshare drivers that reads trip offers in the Uber Driver and Lyft Driver apps and shows what they pay. This policy covers the TripChecker apps for Android and iPhone and this website. Questions: [email protected].

TripChecker has no accounts, and your trips aren't sent to us. Most of this policy is about what happens on your own phone; the rest covers the few things that leave it.

What TripChecker reads

On Android, TripChecker uses Android's accessibility service to read the fare, minutes, distance and rider rating of offers in the Uber Driver and Lyft Driver apps. It looks at no other app. When one of those apps doesn't expose its text, TripChecker takes a screenshot while that app is on screen, reads it on the phone with Google's on-device text recognition (ML Kit), and throws it away. Screenshots are not saved or sent.

On iPhone, TripChecker reads the frames of a screen broadcast that you start and stop yourself. Frames are read on the phone and thrown away; nothing is recorded or saved.

What stays on your phone

Your rule and settings, your car costs, your destination rules and red zones, and your offer history. The history keeps numbers only — fare, minutes, distance, rider rating, which app, the time and the verdict — never addresses.

A short troubleshooting log keeps the last screens TripChecker read, with street names hidden. It stays on your phone unless you send it to us with a support report.

What leaves your phone — only if you turn it on

Traffic check (off by default): for each offer, the pickup and drop-off street lines go to Google Maps on Android, or on iPhone to Apple Maps (or to Google, if you choose it and add your own key), to get the trip time with live traffic.

Destination rules and red zones (off by default): an offer's street lines go to Android's address lookup or Apple's address search, so TripChecker can tell where the trip ends.

On Android, the Map tab shows a Google map; loading it contacts Google like any Google map does.

The settings TripChecker downloads

When it starts and every few hours, the app downloads its current settings from TripChecker's server: switches that let us pause offer reading or a feature for every driver at once (for example when Uber or Lyft change their screens and TripChecker could misread offers) and short notices for drivers. The request says only which app it is, Android or iPhone, and its version. Nothing about you, your phone or your trips is sent.

Support reports — only when you send one

From the app's troubleshooting settings, Send to support sends us the message you write and the app's version. Only if you add them, it also carries an email address to answer you at, which driver app you use, the troubleshooting log (street names hidden) and a screenshot you pick. On iPhone, a screenshot goes as the picture alone, without the place or other details your photo library keeps with it. Nothing is sent until you tap Send.

Reports go to TripChecker's server, where only TripChecker's team can read them. We use them to fix TripChecker and to answer you, and we delete a report whenever you ask. To stop floods, the server keeps a one-way, salted hash of your internet address with each report, never the address itself, and takes at most five reports an hour from one connection.

Your location

Your position is shown only on the Map tab, next to your red zones. TripChecker never saves it or sends it anywhere.

No account, no ads, no analytics of our own

There is nothing to sign up for. TripChecker shows no ads and adds no analytics or tracking of its own.

The Android app includes Google components (Maps and ML Kit) that may collect limited diagnostic information under Google's privacy policy. Apple and Google also collect information when you download apps from their stores, under their own policies.

Taps (Android only)

TripChecker taps nothing in Uber or Lyft unless you turn on auto accept, auto decline or go back online. Each tap waits for a countdown you can stop. Uber and Lyft don't allow apps that tap for you and can deactivate accounts that use them; TripChecker tells you so before you turn it on.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you email us, we use your address only to reply, and we delete the conversation if you ask.

If you join the waitlist on the download page, we keep your email address and which phone you use, only to email you once when TripChecker is out. Ask us any time and we'll remove it.

Deleting your data

Everything TripChecker keeps about your driving is on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it; your phone's own backups may keep a copy until they're replaced. On our side we hold only the emails and support reports you send us; ask and we'll delete them.

Children

TripChecker is made for licensed drivers and is not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, say so in the app.
